Kelly Hogan joined Iron And Wine to perform on late night TV for the second time this month (the first was Late Night with Jimmy Fallon). This time Hogan was there to sing backing vocals on “Low Light Buddy Of Mine” and “Caught In The Briars/Sundown,” a special bonus track from the latest Iron And Wine album Ghost on Ghost. Earth may just implode from the sheer comic and musical fantasy that American Public Media’s radio show “Wits“ is treating audience members of the sold-out May 10 show to at St. Paul’s Fitzgerald Theatre. Episode 26 will include comedian Rob Delaney and beloved singer/songwriters Kelly Hogan and Neko Case. Oh, and maybe another special guest…

We’ve already peed our pants imagining how funny this will night will be. But, don’t worry if you missed out on tickets. The show will premiere Friday, May 17 at 7pm EDT (and be available on the Wits site) with most markets running it over the weekend. Check your local listings for details.

Neko Case, Primavera Sound Festival And Dates In Europe, UK

Neko will be hitting London and a handful of select European cities during a quick trip over to perform at the Primavera Sound Festival in May. This tour will mark Neko’s first time back in these markets since late 2009 after the release of her Grammy-nominated album Middle Cyclone. Included in this routing is a new stop to Schorndorf, Germany.

Primavera Sound is happening over the course of two consecutive weekends, which begins in Barcelona, Spain and finishes in Porto, Portugal.

“Morning Edition” Went Back To The Studio With Neko Case

Over the past year, Steve Inskeep, host of NPR’s AM news program, Morning Edition has been documenting Neko’s recording process. On April 2, 2012, the second part in his 3-part series aired. Back In The Studio, Neko Case Recovers “That Fire” is a post-mixing, pre-mastering conversation with Neko on the songs she wrote that she didn’t at first recognize ad books that helped inspired her performance.

The first part of the series aired in May 2012, when spoke with Neko after her first recording session at Tucson’s WaveLab Recording Studio. That interview, titled Birth Of An Album: In The Studio With Neko Case, is archived here. Neko hadn’t yet had a handle on the songs she was writing, and discussed with Steve the disorienting nature of creating something you didn’t yet understand.

The last installment of the series is set to run closer to the release of Neko’s tentatively titled next album, The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight. The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You later this year.

After a quick and quiet kitchen table rehearsal with Sam Beam in Austin, TX during this year’s SXSW Music Festival, Kelly Hogan (and Nora O’Connor) joined Iron And Wine at ACL Live at the Moody Theater for the band’s official SX showcase. Beautiful sounds.

So, of course the next step is to perform with the band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Friday, April 26. Check your local listing for showtime.

Kelly Hogan and Nora O'Connor join Iron and Wine at SXSW

Kelly Hogan and solo artist/Hogan bass player Nora O’Connor will join Iron & Wine for singing at their SXSW Showcase at ACL Live at the Moody Theater on March 13th. The showcase’s super totally awesome line-up also includes Natalie Maines, Dawes, Lord Huron and Family of The Year, and begins at 7:45pm Wednesday with Iron & Wine’s set at 11pm.

Program your smartphones, we’ve got the lowdown on Kelly Hogan’s appearances at this year’s SXSW Music Conference in beautiful Austin, TX. Hogan’s official SXSW showcase is Midnight on Tuesday, March 12 (technically the 13th…) at the Central Presbyterian Church. This Nature Conservancy/Anti- showcase will also feature Parkington Sisters, Sean Rowe, The Milk Carton Kids, Ryan Bingham, and Gaby Moreno.

On Thursday, March 14, Austin City Limits and ACL Live at the Moody Theater host Bloody Mary Morning at ACL Live at the Moody Theater. Hogan will open the show. Cure your hangover the SXSW way with a Bloody Mary, live music and breakfast tacos, then head down south to the Broken Spoke for Hogan’s 2pm set at the Twangfest Party. Catch her later in the afternoon at the Gingerman (4:45pm-ish) for an event curated by Hogan buddy Jon Langford.

Visit the Four Seasons’ lobby on Saturday morning March 16 at 8am for Kelly’s live set for KUT’s Live Broadcast. If that’s too early for you to be out of bed, tune in to KUTX at 98.9. Later in the day, after a nap, Hogan will perform at one of 6th Street’s biggest venues, The Stage on Sixth, for the HGTV/Paste Party at 2:30pm. The party’s 4-day lineup includes some of the festivals most exciting veteran performers like Josh Ritter, Billy Bragg, and The Zombies, along with some promising newcomers such as Foxygen, The Lone Bellow, and GUARDS.
