Neko Case Summer Touring, New Album In The Works

Austin, TX-based artist management company Beekeeper Corp. is proud to announce the addition of Swedish recording duo jj to its roster. Hailing from the small village of Vallentuna, Sweden, Elin Kastlander & Joakim Benon a.k.a. jj, create ethereal pop music while incorporating elements of synth, R&B and hip hop.

“jj is an exciting band, pushing the boundaries of pop and electronic music. I’m honored to represent them,” says Kelley Altazin of Beekeeper Corp. Elin and Joakim of jj are equally pleased about the partnership, “Kelley is the only person that can handle jj. We trust and love her, sincerely.”‬

In 2010, jj received “Best New Music” accolades from Pitchfork.com for their Nº 1 & Nº 2 releases, and partnered with R&B star Ne-Yo for the Adult Swim Singles Program track “We Can’t Stop.” jj toured extensively in support of Nº 2 & Nº 3 including a performance at the Way Out West Festival in Göteborg and supporting dates for The XX on their entire North American tour.

jj are signed to Sincerely Yours in Scandinavia, and Secretly Canadian releases the band’s works worldwide. The band’s latest 7″ single, Nº 4, “Beautiful Life,” was released worldwide on May 8^th.

Kelly Hogan, I Like To Keep Myself In Pain

Kelly Hogan’s new solo album I Like To Keep Myself In Pain will be coming out June 5th on Anti. On it Hogan curates an ambitious and moving labor of love, mining the perfect intersection between classic pop, country and soul. She utilizes her incredible voice to interpret compositions penned for her by musical luminaries including M. Ward, Vic Chesnutt, Magnetic Fields, the Mekons’ Jon Langford, the Handsome Family, Bird, Freakwater’s Catherine Irwin, John Wesley Harding, Robbie Fulks, Gabriel Roth and Robyn Hitchcock.

She is backed on the album by an absolutely all-star band consisting of R&B legends Booker T. Jones and James Gadson (Bill Withers, Beck) as well as talented young lions Gabe Roth (of Daptone Records, the Dap-Kings) and Scott Ligon.

Gretta Rochelle and Jack Armondo of My Gold Mask are in Chicago’s Strobe studio working hard (as evidenced by Gretta’s 10-hour drum day exhausted expression) on a full-length release. The band has released a series of well-received EPs including last year’s A Millions Miles (From Where We Were Last) and A Thousand Voices which features “Violet Eyes”.
